Diversity of Careers in Chemistry

11 February 2025 10:00-13:30, Lancaster, United Kingdom

Introduction
The Chemistry Department at Lancaster University is hosting an IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast (GWB) event to celebrate and explore the “Diversity of Careers in Chemistry”, funded by the ŷAV.The GWB theme this year is "Accelerating Equity in Science" and is held alongside the UN Day of Women and Girls in Science.

We are inviting you to join us to discuss the variety of career opportunities available to all in Chemistry and the sciences. The panel of accomplished speakers will share their career pathways, challenges, and highlights of their careers, with a spotlight on women in Chemistry.

This is a great opportunity for students and early career researchers to meet guest speakers, gain insight into potential careers and learn about careers in Chemistry.

Everyone, of all gender identities is welcome to register and join the free event. You are welcome to join our discussions about the diversity of careers in science and creative sessions for accelerating equity in science.

On the day we will create a collage about women and the diversity of science careers and participants will have the opportunity to have conversations with speakers and fellow attendees. After the collage session we will use participants’ ideas and quotes to produce a “Diversity in Chemistry Careers with a spotlight on Women in Chemistry” poster resource.

The venue is limited to 50 people and places will be allocated in a first come first served basis. Registration is open until the 31st of January but register now to make sure you get your place!

Feel free to contact the main organiser directly, Sophie Rawnsley-Lau (s.rawnsley-lau@lancaster.ac.uk) if you have any accessibility requirements, and/or include this in the registration form.
