ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

26 June 2024 18:30-21:30, Faversham, United Kingdom

Introduction
Why not join us for the 2023 ŷAV Kent Local Section AGM which is your chance to see what your committee have done for members in Kent throughout last year and also ask those tricky questions! After the AGM at approximately 1930, there will be a cold buffet and drinks and then a talk at approximately 2000 by Piotr Cuber a Molecular Biologist  from the Natural History Museum on ‘Wilder Blean’
“Wilder Blean” is a joint venture between the Kent Wildlife Trust and the Natural History Museum. Started in 2022, the project aims to use European bison as an engineer of nature to help sustain biodiversity of the Blean and West Thorndon woods. The project is a carefully designed experiment where the woodland has been split into three major areas, one under human maintenance serving as a control site, one with different species of domestic grazers, while ponies and pigs join the bison in the third area. As the grazers and humans continue maintaining the woodland, different aspects of biodiversity are being monitored, including plant, reptile, insect and bird surveys and environmental DNA studies of the soil
There will be an opportunity after the lecture to network and catch-up. The Alexander Centre is a short walk from Faversham bus/rail station with plenty of parking nearby in the Queens Hall carpark
