Central Yorkshire Section AGM, Dinner and Talk

8 March 2023 18:00-21:30, Leeds, United Kingdom

This event is for Å·ÃÀAV Members only

Introduction
The Section AGM is with us again - but with "in person" attendance this year at a new venue with a new speaker!  The timing schedule is pretty tight, and we start at 1800.  With a new format and a new AGM venue, this is not the time to experiment with a "hybrid" meeting.

The Committee elections are important as ever. The three Officers are to be decided before the AGM by the Committee. Many current members of the Committee continue in office, but we shall have at least two vacancies for Ordinary Members.  Please contact Richard Whewell by email (rjwhewell@gmail.com) or telephone (0113 2755604) if you are interested. A nomination form should be completed and returned to Dr Whewell together with a short "pen portrait" by the end of February, although nominations right up to the AGM will be accepted if vacancies remain after the deadline. We will welcome any Section member with an interest in Chemistry who wishes to communicate that interest and to help us implement our events.  We are not only recruiting from research and development or from retired Members, as we can see that teachers are under-represented, whether in primary schools, secondary schools, or further education

Our after-dinner speaker will be Lucy Carpenter FRS from the University of York.  As an expert in atmospheric chemistry, she will speak on "The Air We Breathe - Atmospheric Pollution and How to Fix it".   We will collect a contribution of £10 per person (cash or cheque) towards the cost of the dinner, and you will be able to buy drinks (cash or card) at the bar. You are welcome to bring a guest.

An early booking would be very helpful, to give us a better idea of numbers.  When you email Richard Whewell to book, please include details of any dietary or other special needs.  If necessary, I can regard early bookings as "expressions of interest" should your diary fill up unexpectedly, as long as you cancel before the booking deadline.

We look forward to welcoming you back "in person"!
