This full-day workshop is designed to introduce you to the methods chemists use to isolate and identify chemical compounds. The examples chosen are relevant to the A level curriculum and the workshop involves the extraction of compounds from naturally occurring substances such as fruits, buds and seeds.
You'll also get a tour of Cardiff School of Chemistry to see how 'state-of-the-art' techniques and instrumentation such as IR, NMR and GC/Mass spectrometry are used and see these techniques applied to your own samples.
