Discovering Cosmetic Science Webinar

25 March 2021 17:00-18:00, United Kingdom

Introduction
If you’ve never considered the science behind the products you use every day then this webinar is the perfect introduction.  ‘Discovering Cosmetic Science’ is a book published by the Å·ÃÀAV in 2020 and authored by the Society of Cosmetic Scientists. It takes the reader on a guided journey through the real science behind the cosmetics we use. When we talk about cosmetics we don’t just mean makeup and this book explores the different product types within  cosmetic science, including oral care, skin care, hair products, perfume and much more.

Moderated by Amanda Isom, the webinar will feature two authors from the book who will introduce you to the science of hair and the way in which colour is used within cosmetics.  You will never look at your shampoo, cleansers or makeup the same way again!

Paul Cornwell: The science behind hair products
Hair has the ability to transform rapidly how people feel about themselves and hair care is one of the most emotionally charged areas of cosmetic science to work in. Paul will provide an overview of the science that underpins product development in this area including a look at how the hair is structured and how that impacts cosmetic product design.

Claire Summers: More than a smudge of colour
Colour is used in so many different personal care products from Lipsticks to Body Lotions. But are all colours equal? Claire will provide a helpful guide to selecting the right colour for the job and how to get the most out of it.
