Nanotechnology is a rapidly evolving enabling technology with the potential to revolutionise modern life. But how well do we know nanomaterials and why does is matter if we don鈥檛? An increasing body of scientific evidence suggests that some materials in their nano-form may induce harmful biological or environmental effects through a variety of potential mechanisms.
Professor Valsami-Jones will be presenting data on advances made to date in studying nanomaterial behaviour as well as needs for further progress to understand these known unknowns sufficiently to enable better innovation but also regulation and citizen/consumer confidence.
