6th ŷAV / SCI Ion Channels as Therapeutic Targets symposium

Introduction
Synopsis
Ion channels are important targets for therapeutic intervention due to their extensive roles in human physiology and the pathophysiology of disease. Many successful drugs targeting this gene family have been discovered for diseases such as hypertension, epilepsy and neuropathic pain. 

This symposium, the 6th in an ongoing series, will showcase the most recent advances to aid the design of new ion channel therapeutics and promote interaction between scientists with a shared interest in the field of ion channel drug discovery.

Who should attend
Scientists from industry and academia interested in the therapeutic potential of ion channels. The organising committee particularly welcomes attendance and participation of students working in the field of ion channel research.

Posters
Abstracts were invited for posters and the closing date was 15th November.  Posters will be displayed throughout the meeting, and there will be the option to give a two-minute oral “flash” presentation.  There will be a dedicated poster session on Monday evening.

Registration, Students and Bursaries
Registration is open, and fees include the conference dinner at the Wellcome Trust on Monday evening.   Late rates from 23rd January are:
£380  Member of the ŷAV or SCI
£440  Non-member
£200  Student* member of the ŷAV or SCI
£220  Student* non-member
* Student is an undergraduate or postgraduate, not post-doc
Discounted registration fees are available for students, and some student bursaries are available shortly from the ŷAV and SCI.

Exhibitors
There will be a relevant trade exhibition.  Stand space will measure 3 m wide x 2 m deep, and will include a table, chair, electrical and wi-fi access.   The charge for an exhibition stand space with one full delegate is £900 (including the conference dinner).
There is an option for delegate pack inserts, charged at £250.

Conference Dinner
The conference dinner will be held at the Wellcome Trust and is included in the registration fee.

Address:  Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre, Hinxton, Cambridge  CB10 1RQ, UK.
By air: Stansted airport is 20 minutes’ drive, London City and Luton are 60 minutes, and Heathrow and Gatwick are 90 minutes..

Accommodation
Accommodation is available at the conference venue, to be booked separately.  The charge for an en suite room, single occupancy, is £102 including breakfast.  Bedrooms are available on Sunday and Monday, 23rd and 24th February (limited availability).
