Tulip VII Summer School on Modern Developments in Spectroscopy

3 April 2018 11:00 - 6 April 2018 14:00, Noordwijk, Netherlands

Introduction
The Tulip VII School follows the format of the previous Schools organized in the spring of 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015, and is aimed at an audience of Graduate Students and Postdocs. Highly qualified scientists will present introductory and specialized lectures on various topics in the field of spectroscopic and dynamical studies of molecular systems. The topics include ultrafast X-ray spectroscopy, new physical tools to probe molecules and cells, light-matter interactions, high-resolution laser spectroscopy, spectroscopy of cold molecules, and photoelectron circular dichroism. Each lecturer will present a 4 hour course.  The courses in 2018 will be given by:

• Prof. Christian Bressler, European XFEL Hamburg, Germany
• Prof. Adam Cohen, Harvard University, USA
• Prof. Thomas Ebbesen, the University of Strasbourg and CNRS, France,
• Prof. Samuel Leutwyler, University of Bern, Switzerland
• Prof. Bas van de Meerakker, Radboud University, The Netherlands
• Prof. Ivan Powis, University of Nottingham, UK

The typical group size is about 60-70 participants, and only young scientists are present during the school besides the 6 lecturers. As a result, there is a real Summer School atmosphere with lots of formal and informal interactions between lecturers and students.
In addition to the courses, participants are encouraged to present their own research during the school. Short contributed talks will be selected from the submitted abstracts. The other contributed papers will be presented in the poster session.
