The Newcastle & North East Coast local section of The Å·ÃÀAV are proud to present: "Cask or Craft? Can the Real Ale Please Stand Up?" by Dr Keith Thomas of Sunderland University and Brewlab.
The presentation will cover the yeast flavours found in beer, their metabolic origins and some history of yeast evolution and selection. It will also look at the developing world of yeast technology used in the modern brewing industry and comparisons between cask and craft ales.
To aid guests in appreciating the fine and delicate chemistry that is the flavour of beer, samples from StuBrew (Europe's first student-run microbrewery) will be supplied during the talk.
This event shall be followed by a networking session and mixer.
This is a ticketed event with prices from £2.
Guests are advised that doors will be open from 17:30 and the event will begin at 18:00
