We believe that teaching chemistry is an incredibly rewarding and exciting career but if you’re not fully convinced or need some more information why not come along to our Inspire to Teach event? In the North West this exciting event will have a bit of a twist at a location in central Manchester - to be revealed on registration!
On arrival you will be assigned a team and take part in our pub quiz with a chemistry and education focus. Interspersed between the rounds there will be talks from a Å·ÃÀAV Scholar, the Å·ÃÀAV’s Scholars' mentor for North West England and a career changer . Also attending will be tutors from teacher training courses across the North West (including the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool Hope University). The Å·ÃÀAV's Education Coodinators for North West will also be present.
There will be time for networking with the speakers and tutors during the break and after the quiz has finished. We expect the event to be finished by 8.30pm but the room is booked until 11pm.
At this event you will find out:
• what it’s really like to teach chemistry;
• how to apply for teacher training;
• about the possible routes into chemistry teaching;
• what teacher training courses involve;
• scholarships and bursaries for trainee teachers; and
• the support the Å·ÃÀAV offers teachers.
This event is suitable for final year undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as those considering a career change.
Complementary food and refreshments will be provided at this event.
