State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda has been honored with the Ohio Federation of Teachers' 2024 Friend of Public Education Award for her advocacy and passion for public education. She has introduced legislation to provide mental health days for students and support the Military Seal on high school diplomas. She is also a staunch supporter of the Fair School Funding Plan.

COLUMBUS 鈥 State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) has received the 鈥 (OFT) 2024 Friend of Public Education Award. OFT advocates for sound, commonsense public education policies including high academic and conduct standards for students, greater professionalism for teachers and school staff, and excellence in public service through cooperative problem-solving and workplace innovations.

鈥淚 am honored to receive this award from OFT. As a former school board president and a proud product of public schools, I am passionate about our public schools and making sure that all children have access to the best education possible. I am proud to be a partner in this mission with the OFT,鈥 said Rep. Miranda.

Rep. Miranda received the Friend of Public Education Award at the OFT鈥檚 Convention. She was chosen for her advocacy and passion for public education. She currently sits on the Ohio House Primary and Secondary Education Committee. This General Assembly, she has introduced legislation that will give students mental health days and legislation that would allow for more students to receive the Military Seal on their high school diploma. Furthermore, she is a staunch supporter of the Fair School Funding Plan.聽
