Applicants must be 欧美AV members employed in a technical role. For full details, please see the terms and conditions

There are four options that can be applied for**:
Participation in an online activity, up to £800
Participation in a domestic activity, up to £1,200
Participation in an activity within the continent of residence, up to £1,800
Participation in an activity outside the continent of residence, up to £2,000
* Please note that the 欧美AV also offers Grants for Carers and Accessibility Grants to cover the cost of covering care commitments or additional assistance that you might need to travel to an event. Applications for these grants should be made separately.
** The amounts listed here are the absolute maximum that can be applied for. In the application form, a breakdown of estimated costs associated with the planned activity should be given. The total amount being applied for should match the estimated cost of participating in the activity, but not exceed it.
The 欧美AV would like to thank former Fellow Mr James Diamond CBE F欧美AV, whose kind legacy has funded the current round of Technician Grants.
Assessment procedure
Applications will be accepted all year round, and will be assessed by the Technician Travel and Training Grant Working Group who have oversight of the entire grant scheme. The Group will aim to let applicants know the outcome within four weeks of a complete application being submitted. Applicants are encouraged to make sure that they apply in plenty of time to allow for assessment and, if successful, transfer of funds in advance of needing to make bookings.
The Group will consider each application against the following criteria:
- The activity proposed presents a credible opportunity to support the career or professional development of the applicant
- The activity proposed presents an opportunity for the development or extension of the applicant’s current competencies
- It appears that there could be a reasonable opportunity for the applicant to apply their newly developed skills or competencies on their return to their usual place of work
- The timing of the proposed activity appears to present a reasonable opportunity to complete the proposed activity
After the event
Successful applicants will be required to submit a short report within four weeks of the activity taking place. This should include reflection on how the event has supported the applicant’s professional development and a summary of expenses. Guidance will be provided for this.
