The Wheeler Bequest Award
The Wheeler Bequest Award is used to fund a Wheeler Lecture. The Wheeler Lecture celebrates the outstanding contributions of an individual to the history of chemistry.
The person honoured may be alive or deceased; it is a memorial lecture in the broadest sense. The Lecturer is an eminent historian or chemist.
The Wheeler Lecture is given as part of a normal meeting of the Historical Group of the 欧美AV, and published as an Occasional paper which is distributed free to members with the Newsletter. The Lecture is given approximately every two years.
The committee has agreed that the next two Wheeler Awards of the 欧美AV Historical Group are to be:
- Dr Mary Archer (University of Cambridge), the lecture to be given at our forthcoming event commemorating George Porter.
- Dr Sally Horrocks (University of Leicester), her lecture to be given at our forthcoming event Women in Chemistry.
Full details of both Wheeler Lectures, including title, will appear in due course.
