Bedgebury National Pinetum has the most complete collection of conifers in the world, with seven specimens of each conifer from different wild collected sources and a variety of ages. The Pinetum is managed jointly by the Forestry Commission and Kew Gardens who aim is to provide a mix of 70% conifers to 30% broadleaves, and to leave 40% of the site open to provide vistas and allow the trees, flora and fauna to be fully appreciated.
We will meet at 2 pm for a guided walk including points of interest, some of the history of the site and even some of the chemistry of the trees. The walk lasts about one and half hours after which a cream tea will be provided. You are then free to explore the Pinetum until it closes at 8 pm.
The cost is £5 per person including the guided tour and tea. Car parking is £8.50 per car payable on the day. The Pineatery restaurant on site provides light lunches from 10 am onwards. The location of the Pinetum is Goudhurst, Kent TN17 2SL
