By Cleaster Whitehurst-Mims

A ninety-year-old Democrat

鈥淲hat has been lurking in the dark crevices and corners of our nation聽 has now come to the light; what has been hidden under the surface has risen to the top.鈥; what has been flowing in the subterranean blood stream and veins of the American system is now visible for all the world to see..

Figuratively, a 鈥淐hronic Boil鈥 has risen to the nation鈥檚 surface.听 The undeniable and visible appearance of this boil is evident that our nation is undergoing a national revelation and cleansing process.

While experiencing this national revelation and cleansing, I hope that 鈥渨e the people鈥 will be  patient, to be positive  and to see the possibilities our democracy holds for a more perfect union.  I hope that citizens of all political and religious persuasions will metaphorically consider the boil as the purification process that will ultimately reveal the hypocrisy and lead to a healthier nation.

As a result of the maladies that has surfaced on the skin of our nation, we are suffering excruciating pain.听 The pain requires attention, diagnosis and endurance.听 The boil is a symptom of misdiagnosed or an overlooked condition characterized by a pus-filled swelling that progresses into an inflamed, large, red, sebaceous lump and takes the form of a small egg waiting to be hatched.听 The boil that has appeared on the surface of our nation today is analogous to the boil on the surface of the human body.

When a boil surfaces on the body, it grows and the pain grows in intensity.听 The pain is acute and continuous.听 To alleviate the boil鈥檚 physical pain medicinal applications are made to bring the impurities to the surface.听 With patience, endurance of the pain, the boil soon comes to a head, the pus-filled lump bursts and the impurities began to ooze out. The boil聽 reveals the impurities trapped beneath the surface, and the pus drains naturally, cleansing the blood and repairing the immune system.

The toxicity in our nation has been inflamed in the Trump Era and Trump is like the 鈥淐hronic Boil鈥 that reflects the impurities, maladies, sins and sicknesses that has dwelled in our society for hundreds of years.听 The pain 鈥榳e the people鈥 feel in this age is the pulsating pus in the purification process.

Trump is not the cause of the impurities embedded and trapped under the surface of our nation.听 He is the manifestation of the epidemic diseases of denial, deception, duplicity, dishonesty, fraud, greed and hypocrisy that have permeated the systems of our nation from its beginning. Trump manifests these impurities, but he is not the cause of them.听 He is not the architect, but he is the mire model of the deep-seated bigotries found in race and class superiority, denied justice, deprived opportunities, and racist practices that has plagued our nation for generations.

A 鈥淐hronic Boil鈥 is painful, and there is no known treatment or cure for it. However, we the people must apply the essential pressure, endure the essential pain until the impurities trapped in our nation seep to the surface for all to see.听 We can then find relief when the seepage drains, and we recognize the need for a thorough diagnosis, and accept the undeniable truths about ourselves and our nation.

I hope that the people will register and vote to save democracy now and give people the time to live up to its ideals.

Trump and his allies are attempting to redirect anti-racism protections from people of color to White people, with legal actions and court rulings supporting their agenda.

Donald Trump鈥檚 history is riddled with instances of racism and racially-charged remarks, which have only intensified as he faces legal challenges and seeks a return to the White House. Despite his claims to the contrary, Trump鈥檚 language and actions consistently reveal deep-seated bigotry.

In response to his four criminal indictments and 91 felony charges, Trump has attacked prosecutors and judges, often resorting to explicitly racist language. He鈥檚 labeled Black prosecutors handling his cases as 鈥渁nimals,鈥 鈥渃riminals,鈥 and 鈥渞acists,鈥 using language that resonates with his supporters and incites further division.

Trump鈥檚 past is marred by accusations of discrimination, including a lawsuit alleging he refused to rent apartments to Black tenants in the 1970s. He infamously called for the execution of the Central Park Five, despite their subsequent exoneration, and has made derogatory remarks about Native Americans, Latinos, Asians, and other minority groups.

During his presidency, the twice-impeached Trump promoted racist narratives, such as suggesting immigrants from certain countries were undesirable and pushing the debunked 鈥渂irther鈥 conspiracy theory against Barack Obama. He enacted policies like the Muslim ban and targeted fair housing rules, all while using inflammatory language to sow fear and hatred.

Trump鈥檚 rhetoric has encouraged his supporters, and, despite facing legal scrutiny and condemnation, Trump鈥檚 influence on far-right movements and conspiracy theories persists, posing a threat to democracy and exacerbating racial tensions.

, Trump and his allies are plotting anti-racism protections for White people. The report said the proposed shift would see a redirection of focus from combating discrimination against people of color to what they term 鈥渁nti-White racism.鈥 Underpinning the push is a flurry of legal actions orchestrated by Trump-aligned groups, notably , founded by former Trump aide Stephen Miller.

Leveraging the language of Civil Rights, these groups have challenged existing policies and norms, with some cases achieving notable success. For example, contemporary legal disputes have focused on discriminatory practices within the entertainment and professional sports sectors, alleging that affirmative action-like initiatives put White people at a disadvantage.

The ,鈥 which envisions a Trump administration dismantling what they perceive to be 鈥渁ffirmative discrimination,鈥 is one organization that has articulated a larger agenda. Central is the assertion that policies designed to uplift marginalized communities come at the expense of others.

American First argued that 鈥済iven the limited time frame to hire executives and coaches after the season, this results in fewer opportunities for similarly situated, well-qualified candidates who are not minorities.鈥 In 2021,聽Miller鈥檚 group聽聽to block the implementation of a $29 billion pandemic-era program for women- and minority-owned restaurants, saying it discriminated against White-owned businesses.

鈥淭his ruling is the first, but crucial, step towards ending government-sponsored racial discrimination,鈥 Miller said then. So, what caused the historic 34% home appraisal increase /2024/04/12/ohio-property-taxes-killing-me/ /2024/04/12/ohio-property-taxes-killing-me/#comments Fri, 12 Apr 2024 14:00:00 +0000 /?p=26970

Hamilton County's average home appraisals rose 34%, with the rich getting richer on the backs of the poor due to a blend of capitalism and trends, while some communities saw actual property tax cuts.

The post So, what caused the historic 34% home appraisal increase appeared first on 欧美AV .

]]>

Do you remember that New York political party 鈥淭he Rent鈥檚 2 Damn High?鈥 They ran a candidate for governor in 2010. Though it sounded like a Memphis blues song, the instigators tried to ride a wave of disgust about the unviability of city living.听

When the Hamilton County auditor announced an historic 34% rise on average in home appraisals, I wondered if we might see the 鈥淭hese Property Taxes Are Killing Me鈥 Party. The underlying data were certainly vexing.

In many cases, the rich got richer on the backs of the poor. For example, the suburban community of Milford saw actual property tax cuts as did affluent Mariemont and Glendale, where the average house costs $363,000. To make things worse for those keeping track of unfairness,聽Mount Lookout, Montgomery, Terrace Park聽 and Blue Ash saw some of the smallest increases, while places like Camp Washington, East Westwood, English Woods and Evanston saw some of the largest.听

So, who and what are to blame?

First, the only people in Ohio who can change the fundamental system of property taxation is the Republican-dominated, largely rural-centered Ohio state legislature whose power comes from years of district gerrymandering. So, it was the cheapest of political shots when the local head of the Republican Party lambasted the Democratic Hamilton County auditor when she sent out tax bills a few months back that were calculated simply according to legal requirements.听That鈥檚 how the Republicans, apparently, want it.

But why did some communities get better general results than others? Is there some dark political plot? No. It鈥檚 more likely a blend of capitalism and trends. Look, you can drive around the neighborhoods of Cincinnati, or watch the Home Garden Channel, and both will tell you that urban, older, hipper, more diverse neighborhoods loaded with period structures with 鈥済ood bones鈥 are what tons of young workers and empty nesters want and will pay for.

And then there鈥檚 capitalism. Housing speculators know that many renters and buyers want proximity to sports venues, culture, restaurants, bike lanes and bars. 聽 So now you have older neighborhoods with sometimes empty buildings commanding much higher prices simply based on location and supply and demand principles after a combination of flippers, speculators and empty nesters have grabbed buildings for songs, pumped in some money and then rented, occupied or sold them to eager clients causing real estate transaction data to push up valuations, sometimes immensely. 聽

Yes, old timers in those neighborhoods could now sell for great profits, but if they love their home, or can鈥檛 see any economic advantage of them buying in the distant suburbs, they simply must endure the jump even if they鈥檙e now on a fixed retirement income.听

Drive through Mount Auburn, Liberty Hill, Madisonville, Oakley, Price Hill, O鈥橞ryonville and Walnut Hills and see the gentrification. By contrast, Terrace Park, Mount Lookout and Glendale have very little room for significant change. Hence bigger spikes in older, lower-priced neighborhoods.

The problem is no matter what help we dream up for those most in need of help, working class, poor or older citizens, the lost tax revenue will make politicians run away.

Yes, you could greatly increase the Homestead Exemption, which makes the first $26,200 of appraised value exempt from taxation, or you could cap the percentage of increase of property value taxation every six years. But any help you give will reduce money for various services, including schools. The current system helps the Republican suburbs win while the Democratic cities lose. Not a good look for the legislature.听

One of the most creative partial solutions I鈥檝e heard of comes from longtime Walnut Hills homeowner Michael Jordan. He鈥檚 communicating with the Hamilton County Commissioners about his proposal to reward people who buy and remain in homes giving stability to streets. It鈥檚 genius. If you bought a house, fixed it up and lived in it showing your commitment to the city and聽your neighborhood, you should get a sort of tax abatement. You鈥檝e earned it.听

How to pay for that? Jeez, reduce big developer鈥檚 tax abatements. Make them share that money with neighborhood-loyal seniors. Or cut administrators. I don鈥檛 know. Figure it out. Otherwise, Republicans, that new political party could be coming for you.听

Democratic party faces exodus of black men /2024/04/12/black-men-democracy-equality/ /2024/04/12/black-men-democracy-equality/#respond Fri, 12 Apr 2024 12:00:00 +0000 /?p=26966

The Democratic Party must embrace Black men's voices and reclaim its legacy as a champion of progress and social justice, by addressing systemic injustices and inequalities and creating opportunities for economic empowerment, educational advancement, and social mobility for the Black community.

The post Democratic party faces exodus of black men appeared first on 欧美AV .

By Rep. Ron Reynolds

Black Press USA

As a Black man deeply committed to the values of equality, justice, and progress, I find myself reflecting on a concerning trend within our political landscape: the departure of Black men from the Democratic Party. 聽 This phenomenon is not merely a statistical anomaly but represents a rupture in the relationship between the party and a significant segment of its base. As we navigate this pivotal moment in history, it is imperative that we explore the underlying causes of this departure and chart a path toward reconciliation and renewal.

The decision of many Black men to disengage from the Democratic Party is rooted in a complex interplay of historical disenchantment, unmet promises, and a sense of disillusionment with the political establishment. For too long, the voices and concerns of Black men have been marginalized and overlooked within the Democratic Party, leaving many feeling unheard and undervalued. As a result, a growing number of Black men have begun to seek alternatives, searching for political homes where their perspectives are acknowledged and their interests are prioritized.

To address this rift and revitalize the Democratic Party鈥檚 relationship with Black men, we must embark on a journey of introspection and transformation. This journey begins with acknowledging and confronting our society鈥檚 systemic injustices and inequalities. It requires a commitment to dismantling institutional barriers and creating opportunities for economic empowerment, educational advancement, and social mobility for the Black community.

Moreover, it calls for a fundamental shift in how the Democratic Party engages with Black men. We must foster genuine connections and meaningful dialogue instead of token gestures and superficial outreach efforts. We must create spaces where Black men feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their insights and experiences to the political process.

Central to this endeavor is recognizing that Black men are not a monolithic group but a diverse and multifaceted community with a wide range of perspectives and priorities. As such, our approach must be intersectional, considering the intersecting identities and experiences that shape the lives of Black men, including race, gender, sexuality, and class.

Furthermore, we must actively work to address the unique challenges and vulnerabilities faced by Black men, including the disproportionate impact of mass incarceration, police violence, economic inequality, and a lack of access to healthcare. By centering the needs and concerns of Black men in our policy agendas and advocacy efforts, we can rebuild trust and unity within the Democratic Party.

In conclusion, the exodus of Black men from the Democratic Party represents a wake-up call for all committed to justice and equality. It is a reminder that political loyalty cannot be taken for granted but must be earned through genuine engagement, meaningful action, and tangible results. As we confront this challenge, let us seize the opportunity to create a more inclusive and just political landscape where every voice is heard, and every individual is valued.

It is time for the Democratic Party to embrace Black men鈥檚 voices and reclaim its legacy as a champion of progress and social justice. It starts with prioritizing federal voting rights legislation, including the and passing the George Floyd Policing Act, and raising the minimum wage to a livable wage.

The path forward may be challenging, but it is also filled with promise and potential. Let us rise to the occasion together and build a brighter future for all.

Transform your life with pruning technique /2024/04/10/stress-management-pruning-self-care/ /2024/04/10/stress-management-pruning-self-care/#respond Wed, 10 Apr 2024 15:00:00 +0000 /?p=26922

Pruning is an important aspect of self-care that involves removing the "dead weight" that holds us back from being our best selves, and can lead to improved mental and physical well-being, long-term success, and a more resilient future.

The post Transform your life with pruning technique appeared first on 欧美AV .

]]>

It’s the fourth month of the year, and the focus remains on healthy living and stress management. In this ongoing series, we’ve delved into goal setting, stress management, and healthy lining. Now, let’s explore a crucial aspect of self-care: pruning.

If you’ve ever encountered passionate gardeners, you’ll likely have heard about the importance of pruning for maintaining healthy plants. It involves removing dead or diseased parts to promote growth and vitality. Surprisingly, the concept holds true for our personal lives too.

Pruning, in the context of human behavior, means eliminating the “dead weight” that holds us back from being our best selves. Whether it’s unproductive habits, toxic relationships, or time-consuming distractions like social media, pruning involves identifying and cutting out what no longer serves us.

Here are three compelling reasons why pruning is essential for personal growth and stress management:

1. Health Reasons: Just as pruning promotes the health of plants, eliminating negative influences from our lives can significantly impact our mental and physical well-being. Shedding stressors and adopting healthier habits can lead to reduced anxiety, improved mood, and better overall health.

2. Future Benefits: Pruning isn’t just about the present; it’s an investment in our future selves. By addressing current issues and clearing the path for growth, we set ourselves up for long-term success and fulfillment. The actions we take now pave the way for a more resilient and vibrant future.

3. Reduction of Future Problems: Much like preventing disease in plants through pruning, identifying and addressing issues early on can prevent larger problems down the road. By proactively managing stress and optimizing our lives, we minimize the risk of future challenges and increase our capacity to navigate them effectively.

In the words of Ecclesiastes, “To everything there is a season.” Embracing the concept of pruning allows us to recognize when it’s time to let go of what no longer serves us, making room for new growth and opportunities. As we continue on our journey of self-discovery and self-care, let’s remember the power of pruning in cultivating a healthier, more fulfilling life.

The "great replacement theory" has been fueling White supremacist, xenophobic and anti-immigration conspiracy theories for over a century, and has led to the spread of White supremacy, xenophobia and propaganda campaigns in the U.S and Europe.
