Registered Science Technician (RSciTech)
Technicians are essential to chemical science practice and teaching. Their mastery of highly specialised equipment contributes to research outputs. Their chemical analyses keep us safe and healthy. They enable students to fall in love with science and to gain the practical skills they need for a science career. RSciTech recognises an individual's highly developed technical competence and professional skills.
Who is it for?
Technicians, those in technical support roles and assistant scientists who have:
✓ Å·ÃÀAV membership (any category)
✓ A RQF level 3 qualification (A-level, T-level, Applied General, BTEC, NVQ Level 3,) or higher – or the equivalent via a combination of other qualifications, work-based training and professional experience
Registered Scientist (RSci)
Highly skilled and knowledgeable scientists underpin the advancement of the chemical sciences. Their contribution is as far-reaching as the industries and sectors they work in. RSci is a measure of excellence that recognises an individual's broad knowledge and high level practical skills.
Who is it for?
Scientists and those working in higher technical support roles who have:

✓ A Higher National Diploma, Certificate of Higher Education, Foundation Degree in Science, Higher Apprenticeship or Bachelor of Science (or above) – or the equivalent via a combination of other qualifications, work-based training and professional experience
Chartered Chemist (CChem)
Recognising the well-developed skills, knowledge and professionalism of those working within the chemical sciences.
Who is it for?
Those who are employed in a role that requires them to use their chemistry knowledge. They must also have:

Chartered Scientist (CSci)
Chartered Scientist is the hallmark of those practising science across disciplines. CSci recognises an individual's specialist knowledge and leadership to improve the application of science and technology.
Who is it for?
Practising scientists who are currently employed in the chemical sciences. You'll also need to have:
✓ Membership of the Å·ÃÀAV at Member (MÅ·ÃÀAV) or Fellow (FÅ·ÃÀAV) level
✓ A Master's degree in a science subject (or equivalent),
✓&²Ô²ú²õ±è;Five years' relevant postgraduate experience
High quality science teaching lies at the heart of inspiring and nurturing the next generation of chemical scientists. CSciTeach recognises those individuals who demonstrate excellence in science teaching and learning.
Who is it for?
Teachers in all sectors of science teaching, from primary schools to higher education institutions to museums who have:
✓ Membership of the Å·ÃÀAV at Member (MÅ·ÃÀAV) or Fellow (FÅ·ÃÀAV) level
✓ A Master's level qualification in education or pedagogy, or equivalent (typically gained through a minimum of five years' science teaching experience, including additional responsibilities over the past two years)
Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv)
Tackling environmental issues is one of the biggest global challenges we face. CEnv is a respected professional registration awarded to those who use their chemical science knowledge to lead and influence sustainable management of the environment.
Who is it for?
You don't have to be a practising scientist to apply for CEnv but your work must contribute to mitigating and solving environmental challenges. You'll also need:
✓&²Ô²ú²õ±è;Membership of the Å·ÃÀAV at Member (MÅ·ÃÀAV) or Fellow (FÅ·ÃÀAV) level
✓&²Ô²ú²õ±è;A Master's degree in a science subject (or equivalent)
✓&²Ô²ú²õ±è;At least four years' relevant professional experience
Qualified Person in the Pharmaceutical Industry (QP)
Qualified Person is the statutory award for highly skilled scientists who certify every batch of medicines before they can be released, either onto the market or for use in clinical trials.
Who is it for?
Experienced professionals with an in-depth critical understanding of pharmaceutical manufacture and distribution who have:
✓ Membership of the Å·ÃÀAV at Associate (AMÅ·ÃÀAV), Member (MÅ·ÃÀAV) or Fellow (FÅ·ÃÀAV) level (or membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society or the Royal Society of Biology)
✓&²Ô²ú²õ±è;An undergraduate degree in pharmacy, chemistry, biology or a combination of these subjects
✓ At least two years' experience working on a licence to manufacture medicinal products
Mastership in Chemical Analysis (MChemA)
Public Analysts provide a crucial public protection service, ensuring that the food we eat, the water we drink and the products we buy are safe. Using their expertise in chemical analysis and the interpretation of results, Public Analysts help local authorities to enforce UK and EU regulations.
Who is it for?
MChemA is the statutory qualification for those who wish to practise as a Public Analyst or Agriculture Analyst in the UK. You'll need to have:
✓ Membership of the Å·ÃÀAV at Associate (AMÅ·ÃÀAV), Member (MÅ·ÃÀAV) or Fellow (FÅ·ÃÀAV) level
✓ Adequate experience in a Public Analyst's laboratory in the UK, or other laboratory concerned with relevant food, environment and agricultural analysis
Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC)
Specialist in Land Condition is the only qualification in the UK that recognises those who have a high level of competency and understanding of land condition matters. It is increasingly being recognised by government, commercial organisations and regeneration agencies.
Who is it for?
Those involved with the assessment of the condition and remediation of brownfield sites and who have:
✓ Membership of the Å·ÃÀAV at Member (MÅ·ÃÀAV) or Fellow (FÅ·ÃÀAV) level
✓&²Ô²ú²õ±è;A Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject plus sufficient relevant experience
✓ Chartership through the Å·ÃÀAV (CChem, CSci or CEnv)
Chartered Manager (CMgr)
Effective leadership in the chemical sciences is essential for building high performing teams, enabling collaboration, and inspiring individuals to do their very best work. CMgr is the definitive accolade for individuals working in the management and leadership profession.
Who is it for?
Those who can demonstrate performance and achievement in leading people and managing change, and who have:
✓ Membership of the Å·ÃÀAV at Member (MÅ·ÃÀAV) or Fellow (FÅ·ÃÀAV) level plus CChem
✓ A degree-level management qualification or equivalent
✓ At least five years' management experience
